Danville’s Diverse Houses of Faith
For the faithful in Danville, finding the right community of fellow worshippers and the proper community worship center is an important part of the reason that they remain pleased with their hometown. With a broad scope of religious institutions available for Danville residents that are each an integral part of this close knit community, residents are never at a loss in finding their spiritual center.
Danville has a variety of churches and religious institutions that is fitting for such a diverse community and has long been known for the works and programs of its religious community. An integral part of the small East Bay community, Danville’s churches and places of worship provide a much needed center and balance to the lives of its residents while helping the community as a whole, serving as a place for special and sacred occasions, bolstering the meaning and feeling of the annual holidays, and helping to educate and care for the community’s youth.
Danville residents are blessed to have the depth and variety of ministries in the community that allow for residents of different faiths to find the right fit for their services. From the venerable St. Isidore Catholic Church which also houses a private academy for young students, to the Community Presbyterian Church, the Danville Congregational Church, and the Rolling Hills Community Church, Danville’s diverse population and long history of religious diversity are well represented.
In addition to Sunday services, many of the community churches also have midweek services, special bible and theological study courses, and family and youth classes that are served up in an effort to nourish and help develop their congregations even more fully. Several of the community churches also have retreats and intensive programs for both men and women, youth programs that have scheduled activities throughout the year, and couples and family programs as well. Churches in the Danville area are not solely for worship, but have activities and programs designed to help and better their congregations on a wide variety of levels.
Several of the community churches maintain schools, preschools, and youth events and programs that help parents with after-school care and community activities and many of the local congregations are extraordinarily active within the Danville community with fundraising for area nonprofit organizations, disaster relief efforts, and many other causes.
Beyond the usual worship service and special event hosting, Danville’s religious community makes up the foundation for the community spirit and helps to maintain some of the neighborly atmosphere and spirit of the town.
